TRIPLEX
FALL '17
Site: 5000 sf
Location: Los Angeles on a hypothetical lot zoned for multiple dwelling units (50’ x 150’)

The scope was to develop architectural armatures to contain and establish relationships between multiple domestic spaces and investigate two architectural strategies for delineating thresholds: the demising wall and the garden. The main aim was to deploy multi-unit spatial and organizational planning strategies and concepts pertaining to zoning and site access and design three family dwelling units with shared open space, where “family” may be understood as any living arrangement consisting of more than one permanent occupant.
My project is made up from three units, derived from basic shapes that are then manipulated. Each unit has its own private garden as well as access to the public shared outdoor space. The demising wall also acts as a gateway of communication between the three units by acting as a glass wall.
